Our new scan engine avoids stitching errors by reconstructing and building up the 3D model while scanning.
Today, most intraoral scanner brands require you to use a scan strategy or protocol in order to ensure good data collection. You need, for example, to start with the molar occlusal surface because it helps you capture the right level of detail. Not following the scan strategy could lead to difficulties in properly stitching the 3D model together. This might result in the scan needing to be redone. We rebuilt our entire scan engine to remove that inconvenience.
Now, you can scan your patients in any direction you want and create a scan path that works best for you.
We care about a good scan experience. A few years ago, we automated the process for cleaning up the scan with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). With our new scan engine, we bring effortless scanning to a new level. ScanAssist ensures the 3D scan model that you generate is continuously updated with the latest information. As a result, alignment of the scan data will be close to perfect, and you will end up with a remarkably high-quality scan, no matter your level of experience with scanning.

Inside the scanner, you'll find a sealed mirror. No dust or dirt can enter and affect the optics performance of the scanner.

As an alternative to the autoclavable tip, we’ve designed the TRIOS Ready Tip. It’s for dentists and clinic staff who value the convenience of having a new tip always ready to scan your patients. Simply open the wrapping, attach a TRIOS Ready Tip to your TRIOS 5 and you’re all set. One tip per patient means additional patient safety knowing you’re minimizing the risk of patient cross-contamination.

Ergonomically, the TRIOS 5 is brilliant, because it's such a small scanner and the patients find it a lot more comfortable. With the LED and haptic feedback, I can concentrate on TRIOS giving me the data I need.
With ScanAssist, the new scan engine, we get improved stitching together of the scan data, so that even for new users where the scan protocol might not be ideal, we’ll still get a really good quality scan.
In my opinion, the design could not be more conducive for infection control. It’s small: the batteries don’t have those little ridges in them. There’s a barrier that fits nicely over the scanner. The tip is closed. It’s a win-win all around.
