3Shape and OrthoApnea team up to make it faster and easier for doctors to provide and manage sleep apnea treatments

Copenhagen, February 21, 2019 – 3Shape, the leading the leading 3D scanner and CAD/CAM global dental software provider, and OrthoApnea, the designer and manufacturer of oral appliances for sleep apnea and snoring, have created a 100% digital workflow and online communication system for doctors to provide sleep treatment to their patients.

The collaboration enables doctors using the 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner to seamlessly upload their digital impressions to ApneaDock – an online platform developed by OrthoApnea.

The ApneaDock platform creates a one-click-away digital communication channel between 3Shape TRIOS doctors and OrthoApnea’s sleep therapies. The digital connection enables a faster production workflow, which in turn, gets patients into sleep therapy more quickly. Doctors can also use the channel to manage their cases and communicate with OrthoApnea technicians.

The ApneaDock platform includes a step-by-step tutorial for doctors on how to evaluate and assess patients, scan, take measurements, and order treatments. The platform also stores patients’ sleep treatment clinical history including all uploaded 3Shape scans.

“The goal of this new collaboration between 3Shape and OrthoApnea is to make treatment management much easier and faster, giving doctors the opportunity to communicate with the technician in charge 24/7,” says Antonio Lucena, Managing Director of OrthoApnea.

“A few years ago, the American Dental Association began recommending doctors to assess their patients for sleep-breathing disorders. Our collaboration with OrthoApnea and its ApneaDock platform makes it simpler for doctors to provide their patients with sleep therapy and in turn, improve their quality of life,” says Rune Fisker, 3Shape Vice President Product Strategy.
